Crafting bespoke furniture that aligns with both the aesthetic and functional needs of a home requires precision and a deep understanding of design principles. Whether it’s a statement dining table, custom cabinetry, or built-in shelving units, the goal is to blend artistry with functionality, creating furniture that elevates the interior space while providing lasting value.

Unique Designs Blending Function and Style

Each project involves a careful review of the homeowner’s preferences and the architectural elements of the space, ensuring that the design not only meets practical needs but also enhances the overall atmosphere of the home. The construction process is carried out with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every joint, finish, and component is expertly crafted for durability and style. FAQ

Common questions.

What's the difference between custom cabinets and semi-custom from a big-box store?
Custom: built to your space, your style, your wood species, your finish — no standard sizes. Semi-custom: chosen from a manufacturer's catalog of door styles and sizes, often built in a factory. Custom costs 2-3x more, but fits perfectly and matches anything. For built-ins around irregular walls or trim, custom is usually the only good option.
What wood species do you work with?
Most commonly: white oak, walnut, maple, alder, mahogany. For paint-grade work: maple or poplar (no grain telegraph through paint). We bring wood samples to your home so you see them in your home's lighting before committing.
How long does custom built-in cabinetry take?
From design approval to install: typically 8-12 weeks. Design phase: 2-4 weeks. Shop build: 4-6 weeks. Install and finish on-site: 1-2 weeks. We don't rush the cure on finishes — that's where DIY built-ins fail.
Can you match existing trim and millwork in an older home?
Yes. South Bay Spanish revivals, mid-century moderns, and traditional craftsmans each have specific trim profiles. We mill or source to match, and we test the stain or paint on samples before committing to the build. Many of our renovation projects in Manhattan Beach and Palos Verdes involve matching trim work that's 60-80 years old.
Do you handle the finish work (paint, stain, lacquer)?
Yes. Built-ins finished off-site in a spray booth for the smoothest result — Conversion Varnish, Lacquer, or modern 2K Polyurethane. Touch-up and final coat applied on-site after install. The finish quality is dramatically better than on-site brushed/rolled work.
How much do custom built-ins cost?
Built-in entertainment wall (8-12 ft long, painted): typically $8K-20K. Library wall floor-to-ceiling: $15K-40K. Kitchen island (custom, with stone top): $12K-30K. Full custom kitchen: $40K-150K+. Real number depends on size, wood species, finish complexity. We quote your specific project, not a per-linear-foot average.
