What you get

Everything we deliver.

  • 01

    Site assessment & shade analysis

Drone roof survey, shade modeling, production estimate. We won't propose a system that overstates its output.

  • 02

    System design & engineering

PV array layout, racking and mounting spec, inverter selection (string, microinverter, or optimizer), structural calcs stamped by a California PE.

  • 03

    Utility interconnect & NEM 3.0

Full LADWP / SCE interconnect packet, NEM 3.0 application, witness-test coordination. We handle the paperwork — you sign once.

  • 04

    Battery storage integration

Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ Battery, Generac PWRcell. Sized to your load profile so the battery actually pays for itself under NEM 3.0.

  • 05

    Commissioning & monitoring

System turned on, monitoring portal set up in your name, walk-through with facility staff. We register the manufacturer warranties as part of close-out.

How we run it

Scope to sign-off.

  1. 01

    Site assessment & proposal

Roof survey, electrical service audit, shade analysis, production model, real ROI math. Itemized proposal — no flat per-watt pitch.

  2. 02

    Design & permit

System design, structural review, permit package filed with the AHJ. Utility interconnect application submitted in parallel.

  3. 03

    Install

Racking, modules, conduit, inverter, and electrical tie-in done by our in-house crew. Most commercial systems install in 2-6 weeks depending on size.

  4. 04

    Inspect, interconnect, & PTO

City inspection, utility witness test, permission-to-operate. We don't leave until the system is producing and the monitoring is live.

Why DECOMA

FAQ

Common questions.

Does commercial solar still pay back under NEM 3.0?
Yes, but the math changed. Under NEM 3.0 export rates dropped ~75%, which means battery storage is now part of nearly every commercial install. We size systems to maximize self-consumption rather than export — typical commercial payback is now 5-8 years instead of 4-6.
What's involved in interconnecting with LADWP or SCE?
We file the interconnect application with your utility, coordinate the engineering review (1-3 months depending on system size), schedule the witness test, and walk the inspector through the install. You sign the documents; we do everything else.
Can you install solar on a flat commercial roof?
Yes — flat roofs (TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen) are our most common commercial install. We use ballasted or low-penetration racking systems that don't void your roof warranty. If the roof is over 15 years old, we'll recommend re-roof first.
What about battery storage for commercial demand-charge reduction?
Battery storage paired with solar can cut commercial demand charges 20-50% on time-of-use rate schedules. We size the battery based on your actual interval-meter data (we'll request 12 months from your utility) so the storage is right-sized for your load profile.
How long does the manufacturer's panel warranty last?
Industry-standard is 25-30 years on production (typically 85-92% output at year 25). We install Tier 1 manufacturers — REC, Q CELLS, Panasonic, Silfab — so the warranty is actually honored when called. Workmanship warranty from DECOMA is 10 years.
Are you a licensed solar contractor in California?
Yes. DECOMA holds CSLB Class A and B licenses (#375508), with our solar work performed by California C-46 (Solar) and C-10 (Electrical) licensed installers. Bonded and insured for commercial work across the South Bay.
