    Virginia Graeme Baker Act compliance — dual main drains, anti-entrapment covers, SVRS for single-drain pools. Required by federal law on every public pool.

    ADA pool lifts & access

    Permanently installed pool lifts compliant with ADA Title III. Transfer walls, sloped entries, accessible decking. We carry the inspection through to sign-off.

    Commercial filtration & energy upgrades

    Sand or DE filtration sized to bathing load, variable-speed pumps (CEC Title 20 required), automatic chemical controllers (chlorine/pH), heater upgrades.

    Inspection & scope

    Site walk, pool inspection, equipment audit, code review. Identify violations and prioritize them — some can wait, others can't.

  2. 02

    Design & permit

    Engineered plans, structural calcs, LA County Public Health Pool plan-check, building permit. We carry the conversation with the AHJ.

  3. 03

    Construction

    Shutdown coordinated with property management, work phased to minimize tenant disruption. Commercial pool renovations typically run 6-12 weeks.

  4. 04

    Health-inspection startup

    Equipment commissioned, water chemistry stabilized, LA County Public Health inspection passed, certificate of operation posted. Pool reopens.

FAQ

Common questions.

Are you licensed for commercial pool work?
Yes. DECOMA holds CSLB Class A and B licenses (#375508). For commercial pool work in LA County, we also coordinate the LA County Public Health Department plan-check and operating permit, which apartments and HOAs are required to maintain.
How long does an apartment pool renovation take?
Replaster only: 3-4 weeks (pool out of service). Full renovation with retile, replumb, equipment upgrade: 6-10 weeks. We coordinate with property management on tenant notice, fence access, and the pool reopening schedule.
What about VGB compliance on older commercial pools?
The federal Pool & Spa Safety Act (VGB) requires anti-entrapment drain covers on every commercial pool. Single-drain pools also need SVRS (Safety Vacuum Release System) or conversion to dual drain. Many older apartment pools in the South Bay still aren't compliant — we upgrade them and document for LA County Public Health.
Do you do ADA pool lift installation?
Yes. Permanently-installed pool lifts compliant with ADA Title III, anchored per manufacturer spec, with the right transfer area and clear floor space. Required at commercial pools serving the public — apartment complexes vary by usage.
Can you work on commercial spas and hot tubs?
Yes — commercial spas have stricter equipment requirements (separate filtration, antimicrobial, mandated turnover rate of 30 minutes vs 6 hours for pools). We renovate and replace commercial spas as part of larger HOA and multifamily projects.
Do you offer ongoing pool maintenance contracts?
We design and build; for ongoing service we hand off to vetted local pool service companies and stay involved on warranty issues. For commercial repeat clients we coordinate the service handoff so the same company handles maintenance across multiple properties.
